I found 3 facilities to recharge italian SIMs from abroad (even with PayPal).
The websites are in german, the companies are situated in Südtirol.
These shops also sell italian Prepaid SIMs.

www.messaxio.com (costs 5€ fee) ("Ricarica/Aufladung")

www.saveonroaming.net costs 3,90€ fee ("Guthaben aufladen")

Herzlich Willkommen - Elektro Haller OHG des Haller Josef & Co (only TIM, "TIM Wertkarten")

TIM just sent an email saying you can use an American Express credit card to recharge from outside Italy by going to the American Express website! I don't have one but wondered if anyone had tried this?

Hi guys

I tested the service rechargemysim
It works with paypal, credit card and online banking, although online banking works only for a few european countries like Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands and UK.
The recharge was processed within one hour, therefore I can live with that!
