He needs to have credit of course. Otherwise the call will not be initiated. You can check the credit online at www.united-mobile.com

Default Callback cost? - 18-03-2008, 11:56

I've at least questions concerning united mobile:

I can see that it is a callback fonction even if you call someone.
But if my husband call me and wait the call back, am i able to see that he is trying to call me ? (i mean may he know that my phone is ringing and he hangs off his phone to wait me to call him?)

OR will he be charged just when he hang up the phone when the call back calls him?

Is there any tip that allow me to know that he is avalaible for me to call him with no cost for him? (i mean that his credit of 10 euros will be not charge)

Thank you for helping me

Elean...

Perhaps I misunderstand...you receive calls directly without any callback...if your husband calls you the call rings on your UM phone like any other phone on any other type of network...for the most part also caller ID works..

When you call out, they use a callback system...which delays the completion of the call until you get the callback but it's usually pretty quick.

If I misinterpreted your question, I apologize in advance.

In fact you answer a part of my question.

I'll be with bouygues in frence and he will be with um in serbia.

I cannot call him when i want because of his work.

I cannot refill his card (and don't want to)

So he is able to call me with the 10 euros credit during 9 months that i can call him back without no cost for him?

No, the function of most callback systems, including on his SIM card, means that the call initiator gets the callback to their own phone, and only when it's answered will the destination number start to ring.

At this point, some independent callback systems are charging the first leg, but others do not charge until the second leg is answered as well. Unless things have changed, the SIM card is in the latter group, so if he then hangs up, I don't think he will be charged, and you could call him.

With UM you start paying only when the person you are calling answers the phone (or if an answering machine answers, of course). You don't pay for free/busy tone.
So if your husband just wants to ring you, without you answering the phone, he'll spend nothing. But I don't get the point in buying a UM simcard for doing this... he can do it also with a Serbian card which would cost him less.

I suggested to buy 2 UM cards to call each other at a good rate. But buying 1 doesn't make much sense. He can get a Serbian card and call you on your Bouygues card at cheaper rates than with UM.

Good: you'll pay only 29 cent per minute (with 25 cent as set-up fee)
