Default TIM Activation in France; Zero Borders - 01-06-2007, 01:30

I am spending 3 weeks in Europe, most of the time in Italy. I am landing first in Paris where I am spending 5 days. I bought a TIM card on ebay for a small premium over the cost in Italy.
1) Can I activate the card when I land in Paris, and use it there?
2) I saw on the TIM website (in Italian) an offer called Zero Borders, that appears to have no roaming charges in neighboring EU countries, including France. However, the web translators (Altavista) did not completely clarify this.
Is this service good for my purposes, and can I activate it on the web before going to Europe on June 24.

The Zero Confini is something like the Passport option of Vodafone. You always pay the first minute (from 1 to 6 euros depending on the zone) and then you have a "local" fee, but I think it's only for calling back to Italy (I have to check on the website).

I hope they can activate the card, it would have been much better if you bought the card here in Itali, there could be problems with registration...

Thanks for the info. I sent the vendor passport info, and they say they
activated the card before sending it out. However, my understanding is that
in order for the card to be operative, an outgoing call must be made. My question is, can this outgoing call be made in France, or will I have to wait until I arrive in Italy. I would really like use of the phone in Paris, as my wife and I are arriving there separately, we have two phones, and one already has a TravelSIM card in it. Again, thanks for the help.

I have no idea. Usually international roaming is active by default and so it should work in France as well if the sim is active.
