Default Top up special offer?! - 02-02-2009, 13:26

Did any of you receive an email from UM today with a special offer to top up and they will throw in 5 euros more?

Looks pretty desperate to me? I can't see throwing good money after bad at this point?

I doenst matter is the +423 platform is for sale or not. By adding 19 cent incoming call setup they have priced themselves out of the market.

I also seems very strnage that the figures given in the deleted mail in this thread gave a nice profit. So one wonders why they would add 19 cents.

also it said that they had 60.000 customers. That might sound much but when there potential customer base is very wide, it's realy nothing.

Nothing will change for +423 customers but we'll know something more at the end of February.
Nothing really new IMHO . Do you remember the summer 2007 when they started to give away UM+ SIMs to +423 users? Then they also withdrew +423 SIM from their offer for some time....

That's all for now.
Did he confirm that UM (part or all) is for sale? Did he confirm the "deleted" email or did he say that it should not appear on a public site? It obviously has appeared on at least one public site.
I would assume that UM competitors are already making a sales pitch to UM customers (those that may be profitable). As someone else alluded to above, many of their 60,000 users might actually not generate enough revenue to even bring in enough money to cover maintenance costs.
I can understand that you don't want "private" emails posted. Your calling to verify the info was a good move.

I would assume something like the following would be ok:
"There have been unconfirmed postings on at least one internet site that UM, or part there of is for sale. UM is looking for a Feb 16 closing date and claims to have 60,000 customers" IOW posting the existence of such a document but not posting the actual document might be ok?

I wonder how many of us are still counted as customers who either haven't used it in months or generate only $50 or less in yearly income?

...mike

Make use of T-M's UMA/wifi free calling from any place in the world with access to wifi. I use an LG G6, wife an S7)
A/o Oct 20, 2013 no need for intl prepaid as T-Mobile U.S. includes voice roaming at 20¢/min (in and out)., unlimited text (in and out), and unlimited data in 140+ countries.

My Plan -[6 lines] U.S. T-Mobile unlimited minutes (incoming and outgoing), unlimited text, fast data on each line. that $145/mo. total! . (In U.S. no surcharge for calling a cell.) If a line exceeds 2G of data in a month, pay $10 more for that line. [That only happens a couple times/year.

I wrote just what he wrote me, I don't want to say things he didn't say. Obviously that mail is true, but since it's private I don't want it to be published here. If other forums don't care about privacy it's not my problem.

As I recall they encouraged everyone to transfer the balance from their +423 SIM to the new +44 SIM. So how many of those "60,000 customers" that are now for sale have zero balances and/or are inactive?

I'm making a trip to Switzerland soon and staying with an Air-hostess friend in Kloten, Zurich and I believe the United Mobile offices are in Kloten!

Shall I pop in and see if there is anyone left there?

My friend is into cloak and dagger stuff, always used to play Cludo. (Mrs purple, in the library with the candlestick) She would love to infiltrate the United Mobile stronghold and come back with some sensitve info, with a bit of luck some pictures of this Sven fella in Lederhosen and Sim cards stuck to his nipples!
