Talking AT&T GoPhone (PAYG) now roams in Canada! - 09-09-2011, 21:57

https://www.paygonline.com/websc/rat...ateplan_en.jsp - rates are shown here, but not bad at all for occasional use (don't touch data though!). Travellers to Canada now have yet another option at their arsenal.

Nice to see now that both national GSM operators in the US roam in both Canada & Mexico (with T-Mobile very recently opening roaming up to a number of countries outside NA too, though at pretty high prices).

Active SIMs:
2007-05-14: T-Mobile post-paid (USA: 267)
2007-12: T-Mobile pre-paid (USA: 857)
2009-01-21: Mobal World (UK)
2010-06-08: TracFone (USA: 215)
2011-03-12: Tru (USA: 305)
2011-08-01: AT&T pre-paid (USA: 212)
2011-08-22: Spot Mobile (USA: 603)

Confirmed. I turned on the GoPhone SIM I have in my unlocked iPhone 3G and it found Rogers eventually. I can't tell if it registered on 3G or 2G but it registers, which is far more than it used to.

CA: SaskTel, Wind postpaid; Rogers, Bell postpaid iPad flex plans; US: T-Mobile postpaid data, prepaid voice; PureTalk (AT&T MVNO) prepaid voice/data; AT&T prepaid iPad plan

Hardware: Too much but notably iPhone 5, iPad Mini Retina LTE, Moto G LTE (N.A. version), iPhone 4. All unlocked.

In BC, my AT&T Go Phone sim now registers on Rogers (both 2G and 3G), but not Telus (3G).

That's interesting. I wasn't able to find any roaming listed for T Mobile prepaid outside of Canada and Mexico, can you point to a page or news item that has the new new countries and rates? Thanks.

Found your thread on HoFo now, and the rates sheet at
http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/c...llingRates.pdf

Useful for receiving SMS while outside North America, but as others say the lack of any coverage in the UK is very odd.

Aha, should have checked this thread first. If there's someone in the UK who can test this, we can find out whether this was just an omission. Roaming works fine in Germany.

Interesting that AT&T's voice rates are cheaper than T-Mobile. The text message rates are not though.

I suspect it's just a mistake on the rate sheet and it will work in the UK. especially since other countries such as Spain, France, etc are all on there.

Interesting. Only problem is data is 2c/KB. It's interesting how some operators quote prices in /KB instead of /MB to make prices look cheaper than they are.

2c/KBis $20/MB which is a robbery.
