Default Advice needed for trip to Sicily - 22-07-2011, 04:06

Hi all,

Been to Sicily 4 times in the past, but always as a youngster. I'm visiting now and being older and operating my own business, I need access to email.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant (unlocked) which supports these specs:

Cellular_Networks: GSM850, GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900, UMTS1700, UMTS2100

Cellular+Data:Links: CSD, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, HSUPA

I will be in a remote town - Giuliana near Sambuca or Bisacquino.

I need access to data and voice if not in Giuliana, a nearby town.

Can anyone from the region or a visitor tell me which provider is the best bet? TIM, Voda or Wind?

Do any of these guys provide pre-paid data plans and data sticks that I could use on my notebook?

Any other suggestions for me?

Thank you so much!

It seems in Giuliana only Wind has 3G coverage (quite unusual!). TIM should have EDGE, while Vodafone only GPRS. 3 has no coverage at all.

Wind and TIM should have 3G coverage also in Sambuca di Sicilia and Bisacquino.

Both Wind and TIM have data offers, all information here:

Just a quick update from last year.. in the guiliana region, voda was the best. Wind did not work very good at all. I believe I got 3g in giuliana with voda. In taromina, wind was much better than voda. This was in summer of 2011.

I'm am going back this week and hope it has maybe improved!
