Default Yackie or Hop Mobile?...or another? - 12-04-2007, 17:24

Hi! I'm interesting in an international sim card. I see the rate of Yackie and Hop Mobile (international) are the best. But I see that all two cards are very expensive, so what's the best to choose one of this?

I see that with Yackie it's possible to choose also an Italian number (in my case I can choose Milan) if I understand...

What do you think?

Or you can tell me another good international sims.

Thanks a lot
Matteo

Stay away from Yackie - nothing but bad experiences all over this forum, whether it is performance or billing issues.

In what countries do you want to use the card the most?
Do you want mainly to receive calls or to make calls and where - to Italy, to the country you are in. elsewhere?

I need a sim card to use in all the world, I know that in most countries there's also roaming cost, but where there aren't I can cut the cost

I need only, for the moment, make call to Italy, or else where, but not to receive.

Well, Hop has the same rate worldwide $0.95/min + $0.20 setup fee and one second rounding but its coverage is good in Africa only. In Europe, it doesn't cover even all the EU countries. The best coverage (=no. of countries) is in Yackie Mobile (but its reliability is close to zero ) and 09. If you care the most about outgoing call rates, GT-SIM might be your choice. In many countries they charge €0.26/min to landlines and €0.38/min to mobiles. Coverage is about 115 countries.

I've found also a GT-Sim.com.au site, the rate are in AUD.
But if you see in the FAQ there are:

"Which currency is the GT-SIM account kept?
All GT-SIM accounts are in European Euros. "

...so it's the same...

I'll waiting for the .de site, because it's ok for me

Thanks a lot

P.S. and "my cherry mobile"?

I think the general consensus here is that Hop is the most expensive of any of the intl. SIMS. Outgoing, at 95 cents is quite high. In fact, you can roam in many countries w. a U.S. T-Mobile or Cingular/att phone for 99 cents for outgoing.
When you factor in the cost of calling a Monaco mobile, incoming is about 50 cents - again higher than anybody else (intl. SIMS) in most places.

Just realized i forgot about the 20 cent surcharge on each outgoing call with Hop. A few weeks ago I posted here a complete rate comparison chart comparing UM, TravelSIM, and CelTrek. (Also included the U.S. carriers, which would not be of interest to a "foreigner")
CelTrek can provide a UK, French, or U.S. number for the same basic cost. Don't know about Italy.

Make use of T-M's UMA/wifi free calling from any place in the world with access to wifi. I use an LG G6, wife an S7)
A/o Oct 20, 2013 no need for intl prepaid as T-Mobile U.S. includes voice roaming at 20¢/min (in and out)., unlimited text (in and out), and unlimited data in 140+ countries.

My Plan -[6 lines] U.S. T-Mobile unlimited minutes (incoming and outgoing), unlimited text, fast data on each line. that $145/mo. total! . (In U.S. no surcharge for calling a cell.) If a line exceeds 2G of data in a month, pay $10 more for that line. [That only happens a couple times/year.
