Had an old TIM sim and visited Italy and wanted to keep it active for another year with a quick ?5 recharge...when I dialed 4916 I got a message saying I could not recharge the card (although I had done so before) since my personal details had not been recorded...what's going on...I had been able to recharge it previously and have used it...

you have to register that sim card. Without registration you can't use it... antiterrorism law (i'm jokin' , i find so dumb to believe that a simply registration can fight the terrorism...)

Matha,

Our Italian allies in the GWOT (or is it GWOI) are just following the lead of our own government in INSURING that there are enough controls in place to track and capture the evil enemies of our way of life. Surely this is just a small price to pay to increase our common security!

I am CONVINCED you will sleep more soundly and peacefully with this appreciation and knowledge.

Why even the independent SWISS are helping out now. Those untraceable and unregistered old SWISSCOM (I had a MINT card) cards were certainly a potent weapon in the hands of our Islamo-Facist enemies.

...and apparently the concern of our allies for our well being by requiring registering of sims is spreading to United Mobile (see my comment on the international board and the response even though I can't bring up the link)...

Why it must be very difficult for Islamic Fascists to register a prepaid sim. What next? Stripping to our underwear to go through security at airports.

You might not be so far off................

My wife told me - I cannot confirm - but there was a Russian plane that was taken down in the recent past (last few years anyway) by 2 Chechen women. Reportedly they had the explosives concealed in a body cavity below their waist. So it is postulated, anyway.

I wonder if the Chechens are Islamic? Certainly not of Arab/middle-Eastern origin.

Yeah, Chechens are Sunnis Muslims, but religion doen's matter much in that war (as in every war, there's always some big economic interest behind).

Anyway, in Italy we always required registration of sim-cards and it was TIM's fault not to do that always. The biggest problem was for TIM itself since many dealers used to activate "fake" sim-cards to get more moeny from TIM showing they were good dealers selling many sim cards... I mean, terrorism is only an excuse, the main reason was money, as usual.

Anyway the law in Italy require registration for sim-cards, and I think it's a correct thing.
