Smile Any Questions about Australia? - 13-06-2010, 00:37

If you have any questions about Australia, post them here and I will try my hardest to get around to answering them.

Basically, if you are travelling out of the cities in to remote areas, Telstra is the most expensive but the better option for coverage. If you are sticking mainly to the cities, Vodafone / Three are probably your best option for voice and data although Vodafone and Optus also have good rural coverage - but not as good as Telstra.

If you just want incredibly cheap voice calls, then consider a PennSIM from Pennytel as this gives free calls to the VoIP gateway number and then Pennytel rates from there. Data packs are also available on the PennySIM, which is a re-sold Optus service (so the least reliable network).

For best combination of price and coverage and reliability for data only, consider Internode 3G - which is the Internode network (best) delivered over Optus 3G towers, but it is still Internode so should not suffer the unreliability issues of Optus.

In Australia you need full ID to bet a pre-paid SIM.

HTC Desire (unlocked UK version) / Nokia E71 (Wife's phone) / 3 Australia Post Paid SIM (both)

Looking for data / voice SIMS for Europe in August 2010 - UK, France, Italy, Austria, Croatia and Bosnia
