It's happened before -
15-06-2007, 03:18
When this happened to me last October I tried but failed to get any response from United Mobile customer support. More recently, I tried again. This time I received an unhelpful email to the effect that 1) United Mobile should work with my Motorola v190, and if it didn't I must be doing something wrong, and 2) there was nothing they could do. The tone of the message I received was unfriendly and condescending. United Mobile is a crappy company, and why it continues to enjoy a good reputation is a mystery.
There are two possible solutions for your problem, both of which will cost you money: 1) buy a Motorola v3 or a Nokia 6610, both of which work with my United Mobile sim, or 2) buy a sim from RangeRoamer or Cherry Mobile, both of which include a Motorola v220 in their list of compatible phones. These aren't very good solutions because you're still out some $69 for United Mobile's useless product, but I can't think of anything else. |

UM Customer Service -
11-07-2007, 16:45
I've been reporting the unreliable service in Australia for the UM card, both here and to UM directly. I've had an open case number for a couple of months now. Here's the most recent reply....
I am terribly sorry about the inconvenience. As you stated correctly the situation in Australia is known for quite some time now and we are definitely not pleased with it either. It is caused by technical problems of one of the local carriers and we don’t have direct influence on the progress of the situation. I can assure you we are in touch with our local partners to find a satisfying solution any time soon but at this point unfortunately I cannot give you a specific date when we expect the network to be up and running again. Please accept our apologies for this inconvenience." Pretty much unhelpful but at least they were nice about it, don't you think? Sorry UM, but you gotta go. Should have a Travelsim waiting for me when I get back from this trip. Can anyone comment on the Customer Service from Travelsim? Cheers |

I agree both on the gotta go and meager customer support. The least they can do is offer you some kind of credit. NEVER seen them do that.
