Thanks to the guys at prepaidgsm.net I now have an active WIND SIM with 5 euros credit on it.

I want to add more credit so I can activate the MEGA NO LIMIT option.

I have registered on www.mondowind.it but when I supply my credit card details it asks me for my Italian address, and my codice fiscale (neither of which I have).

So how can I add credit from the website using my credit card?

Thanks,

Jason.

Unfortunately it is very common among mobile phone carriers to only allow recharging remotely with a credit card issued in that country and the way they do this is, as noted, by requiring a postal code from that country. I have found this a big problem among British mobile phone providers and it is evident WIND is pulling the same garbage.

I just don't understand it and never have.......the whole purpose of international credit cards such as visa and mastercard is to make national borders invisible and it really can't be a big fraud problem...I mean what are we talking about 5 or 10 euro?

The same feature is in Poland - all the ops require a Polish billing address for the card (and top-up pages are in Polish only - an extra "protection" )
The funniest thing that they allow international cards issued in Poland not only with logos of Visa, MC, DC and Amex but also JCB - but there are no Polish JCB cards and I doubt if they ever appear lol:

Hmm, I guess that there may be some issue with extra charges for international transactions and/or possibly longer waiting time for authorisation of the transaction  :

Not so...we are a visa merchant and we don't get charged extra for foreign cards...as a matter of fact unless we look at the card closely, we don't know where it is issued and in what currency.

Authorizatons do not take any longer either.

Just a nuisance I suppose to discourage foreigners from using prepaid sims?????

I think it is a fraud reduction measure. Code fiscale numbers are easy to come by. It is the foreign credit card and address that it is a b. I've heard that American Express authorizes easier. I'm not sure about it.

I just received my Wind card from Andrea and I had no propblem adding money to my card using Visa. As my italian address I just used the fake one my wind card is registered to. You can check that address on www.155.it

Hope that helps.
