iPad unlimited data plan from AT&T -
28-01-2010, 00:59
According to various reports today, Apple's new iPad tablet computer will have an optional data deal from AT&T that has "unlimited" 3G data (and AT&T hotspots) for $30 a month, no contract, cancel anytime. Or a 250MB/mo version for $15/mo.
I don't like the iPad device (way too proprietary, fixed battery, no USB ports, too expensive with a 3G modem), but if that data plan was available seperately it would be interesting to others, as a no-contract deal. (remains to be seen if it has hefty "activation" charges that would make it less useful as a part-time thing). Not available yet, as it'll be a few months before the iPad with modem is released. |

It is half the price that ATT charges for their netbook data plans. It will be interesting to see how they justify that.

As a follow up, it will be interesting to see if Apple sucessfully pressed other partners for this day. I'd love this deal when visiting Canada. Everytime I mention data in Canada I hear about three year contracts. Even where they offer prepaid data, they want new equipment when you activate it.
