BouygTel: maybe the best prepaid offer in France -
20-08-2007, 23:19
Today the Carte Nomad has changed its name into Carte Bouygues Telecom.
What's new? "Formule Flash" became "Formule Max de Temps": calls to France, Europe and North Africa cost 25 cents a minute while calls to the rest of Africa cost 39 cents a minute (7.5 cents per sms to France). There is a new "Formule SMS illimités" with unlimited SMS (to France) everyday from 5 PM to midnight and all day round in the week end and on wednesday. I'm seriously thinking to switch my postpaid into prepaid (Formule Max de Temps)... I: Vodafone, Wind, 3; F: Bouygues Telecom; M: Melita; INT: Travelsim, Zeromobile. |

Unfortunately not, also the MVNOs have reduced (NRJMobile) or are reducing (Virgin Mobile) the credit validity.

It's too bad the French telcoms can get away with this highway robbery...a similar practice I blieve was outlawed by the German courts. Perhaps the eu can intervene here too!

What changes are Virgin Mobile making? I have a friend in France who got a VM payg card recently because she's a low user of mobiles (just a backup/emergency phone) and VM currently has the lowest running costs (3 months for 10 eur, so 40 eur/yr).

The billing is 1/1 for the calls to France and 60/30 for the other calls.

10 €................15 days 15 €................1 month 20 €................1.5 months 25 €................2 months 35 €................3 months 60 €................6 months "Max de temps" is even worse: 5 €..................4 days 10 €................8 days 15 €................15 days 20 €................21 days 25 €................1 month 35 €................1.5 months 60 €................3 months Guess I'll stick to Orange and A-Mobile. |

I was in France for nearly 3 weeks, and couldn't persuade myself to get a French SIM in the end, despite a provisional plan to use SFR La Carte with it's 30 cents a call option, plus DialNow callthrough from half a cent.
