Default Best tariff rate for Brazil (Buzios) - 12-10-2012, 16:28

Hello,
I'm Italian and i'm going to Buzios for 2 months. I need some trips to choose which brazilian operator to use. Can you help me?
I need an internet data connection first and a good 3G coverage (but also Voice and SMS of course). Do you know Buzios? (it is 160 km from Rio de Janeiro, on the ocean)
Which operator is the best?
There is any flat rate to choose?
I saw the brazilian TIM website but i don't understand portuguese very well!

Thanks you

TIM charges R$0.50 for day use of internet. Up to 20 mbyte in 3G speed and then capped to around 32kbit/sec. You don't have to activate anything. It is the default offer on Infinity Pre. Just buy a SIM card at a news stand or so. You can buy even in Rio when you get to the airport. You need to make a paid call to activate the phone (it will ask for a CPF, ask for the dealers, he will gladly help you).

I also wanted to buy a TIM SIM when i was there on business trip but it turned out that there was free wifi nearly everywhere - so i just skipped the SIM and used my XXSIM for the few voicecalls that i needed to take.

Mr,

If you were on a business trip very likely you had wifi for free at corporate locations. Besides, you can sign up for one of those wifi providers which offer like one-month or so access, in locations such as airports, convention centers and so.

In Rio de Janeiro the Oi Telecom provider offers free wifi in the tourist areas.

But if you are going a bit off this track it is very advisable (and also cheap) to get a prepaid SIM card just to not be disconnected for long. Well, it depends also on your internet addiction/craving ! Mine's terrible...
