Any of the United Mobile SIMs (Riiing, Ecoworld) will offer FREE inbound in those countries. Couple with callbackworld.com call to the US are CURRENTLY 14 US cents per minute. Options are the UM site, Ebay US and Ebay.de.

Other options are 09 (seller in Canada offering on Ebay US) -- free inbound. Some of the UK-based cards also offer free inbound.

And don't forget to take a good calling card for use with landlines.

Good luck.

Stan

If you decide to get local SIMs, I'd suggest Simyo in Belgium (6c/min), Lebara in Netherlands (14c), and maybe Orange in France (unlimited off-peak packages) and use a calling card for about 2c a minute on top.

I believe that Simyo can only be ordered by Belgian nationals/residents though, and maybe then transferred; that's what they told me anyway, then didn't answer the follow-up question.

I've got one of the IoM based SIMs, normal tariff 24 to 30c, and there are some cheaper ways to call to/from it - 15 to 17c per minute (or less for now)

Or set up callback to landlines in your accommodation - 4 or 6c per minute

For calling back to the US he'd need a calling card or the callback service. Or do you have the direct dial rates for those providers TO the US?
