Default Got a TIM SIM - What now??? !!! - 31-07-2007, 00:19

Obviously wasnt visiting big enough cities so couldnt buy a WIND or TIM Sim anywhere - recharge fine everywhere, but no Sims.

Anyway, finally bought a cheap phone with a TIM Sim from a big supermarket, (Auchan near Pompeii), where they took my driving licence to register it).

Anyway.... I try to make calls and get a recorded message in Italian with some options, but I dont know what they are, or the number is unobtainable, (where I get a message in Italian and English). Can I get the menus/options in English?

What do I do to be able to make calls?

What do I do to get several Gb internet per month for around 20 or 30 euros?

Any help welcomed... could find the answers with a search

many Thanks

Richard

Usually TIM cards take some hours to register, then you can use them automatically.
For the data plan you need first to refill your account with 20/30 euros, then:
- Maxxi Web Facile (500MB/month, 20€): send SMS writing "PRO FACILE" to 4916
- Maxxi Web Time (9GB from 5pm to 9am, 25€): send SMS writing "PRO TIME" to 4916

Many Thanks. Bought on Sunday, able to make a call on Wednesday. Recharged with 30euros yesterday and have just activated MaxxiTim Web Time. Got a text confirming activated until 02/09/2007.

Looking good - we'll see what happens at 5pm this evening or so.

Do I need to activate it again in September, or will it continue as long as there is credit on the SIM? I think WIND does it automatically unless you cancel, but not sure about TIM.

Thanks again

Richard

Midnight arrived on the last day of MaxxiTim Time, so I check my web page and it says there are no bonuses or promotions i.e. It hasnt renewed.

I have over 31 euros of credit.

Do I have to wait for TIM to get around to it, or do I text PRO TIME to 4916 to activate it again?

many Thanks

Richard

I'm impatient so I texted PRO TIME to 4916 and it has renewed with 9GB. Checked the web page which confirms it.

So it seems you have to renew MaxxiTim each month.... or is there a way to make it renew automatically?

I think you have to renew it every month...

Looks that way - and we have to be careful to make sure that you are not using the sim for data at midnight on the last night, otherwise it will take money at the "standard" rate, therefore using up your credit very quickly, and there will be none left for the next months data.
