TIM card in Italy

I have a new unlocked Motorola V 180 quad band phone purchased on ebay. Will i be able to purchase a TIM card for it upon arrival in Italy in September? or do i need to purchase the card while i'm in USA?

It's much better to purchase the SIM in Italy.

When in italy, with your passport, you can buy a sim card by TIM.
You need little time (abt 1 hour to setup your new italian number)
Vodafone sim is a very similar second chance.
Also available in italy, Wind and H3g (with less coverage).
