Miami, Frankfurt and Shanghai in just 2 months laptop internet access

Hello all. I hope somebody can give me some advice with this. I will be in Miami, USA for a week , after that I will be for another week in Frankfurt, Germany and finally will be one more week in Shanghai, China, all this in just two months. I have seen some posts here talking about how easy is to keep connected in many countries however I’m absolutely newbie on this. My Need is, while traveling, to have internet access in my laptop, and why not, if possible, in my Ipod or cellular phone via Wi-Fi. I really appreciate your advice about hardware I have to use and of course your recommendations for each country. By the way, in Mexico I have a USB modem (surf stick) Huawei E153 but it is loocked for Unefon company, do not know if I can use it with some other company in other country.
