Sounds interesting-I think I will add Trieste to our list of possible day trips. Good tip bout Trieste being a gateway to Slovenia, which is another destination for us sometime in the future.

BTW, I was able to activate the TIM SmartMAXI plan for both of my SIMs, so we are good to go. Confirmation only took a few minutes, and I was able to verify that the plans were active on my 119 status page. Since I activated them from the US, I also got a "Foreign Roaming" plan automatically activated, which I immediately deactivated on the 119 web page. I had turned off the data and 3G features on my iPhone before I inserted the SIM, so I didn't have any roaming data charges.
