From Monday Lidl will have a promotion again during which SIM cards will be sold at half the price (€ 5 instead of € 10) but with the full credit (€ 5): Lidl verkauft Prepaid-Starterpaket ab Montag zum halben Preis - teltarif.de News

If you are willing to wait until next week, I will try to pick up a bunch of these. Total costs would be
€ 4.95 for the SIM card
€ 2.80 for shipping as insured letter
€ 0.68 PayPal fees
= € 8.43

If you provide another Lidl customer's number as explained here upon registration, we'll both get a bonus of € 5 (despite with a couple of weeks delay).
Eventually you would get € 10 of credit for € 8.43.

With Lidl calls to India are prohibitively expensive costing € 0.99/min. Instead I would recommend Lycamobile who charge € 0.01/min + € 0.15 connection fee for upon successful connection. They also have competitive data packs and some interesting bundles that include data and airtime to India: http://www.lycamobile.de/en/Bundle-offer

There are vending machines for Ortel and Lycamobile now at Frankfurt Airport - in the baggage claim area. So in case you can not get a card shipped this would be the very first opportunity to get a german SIM card (and these also have quite reasonable international rates).

Germany: o2 blue all-in L, simquadrat
Thailand: truemove (phone+sms+wifi)
International: xxSim+372, toggle +44/+49/+41/+31
Phones: Huawei Mate7, Huawei P9
