I think it's not the postage costs. A lot of eBay sellers have had problems with foreign buyers and just don't want to deal with anyone outside their own countries. I know that many UK sellers only want to sell to UK, Germans to Germany, etc. Sometimes if you contact them and ask well before the auction ends they will agree to ship to you even though they said UK, USA or Germany, etc only.
