Talking SFR Data Not Working - Change APN Settings - 07-06-2016, 22:08

I purchased a 10euro prepaid plan for SFR while traveling in France. This was a 1GB data-only plan. I had an unlocked Moto E (2nd Gen) from Mobilicity (same networks as T-Mobile in the states) so I thought everything would be fine. Well it didn't. At least not at first...

Once you purchase the sim card (SFR la carte) and the recharge pack (calling, SMS, data, whatever you buy of the 5, 10, 25, 35euro options), they give you a 10 digit code. You either have to call their number (usually 962 of 952) to activate your plan. You can also just text the code to that number (which I did), and you'll receive a text that they received it, then later a text with your phone number saying the plan is activated. BTW, this will all be in French, so I'd recommend using Google Translate.

Well I got this text but the data wasn't working. It turns out that if you have a non-SFR phone or phone from outside of Europe, the Access Point Names (APN) settings cannot automatically load like they would with a french phone. You have to go into your settings --> more --> Cellular networks ---> APN settings, and enter them manually.

I entered all of the settings on the SFR website I could find, but only the wapsfr worked for me (all are below). Finally I got 2G data and could use the data I have paid for. Anyways, I hope this helps others stuck in the same situation, cheers.

Correct APN setting that worked for me:
Name: SFR mobile
APN: wapsfr
Proxy: 195.115.25.129
Port: 8080 MCC: 208
MNC: 10
APN type: default

(All of the APN setting information from SFR is from their website in French. The link is below)
