Default 7-11 Speakout expiry period has changed - 14-07-2009, 04:11

Might be old news to some, but the 7-11 Speakout sim (on AT&T) no longer has 365 days expiry on the lower recharges. Now needs a minimum of $50 (was $25) to keep it active per year, and 911 fee is now $2.14 a month.

New rates pdf: http://www.7-eleven.com/docs/09_003_...h_E_r04_LR.pdf

On my most recent road trip my Speakout sim ran out of credit and the recharge center was down (for two days), so I'd already switched to my ekit us/can simple calling sim and used that for the rest of the trip (updated my Google Voice redirect for incoming calls). Won't be recharging the Speakout now!

Especially as there are no monthly fees, the ekit sim replaces it well. The connection fees on incoming wrong numbers do eat the balance more than I'd like, but it's otherwise ideal (currently!), much better coverage and up to 15 months service per $30 recharge.

Actually, $10.00 will keep it alive for 15 months. The $30.00 will restore your balance if you let it expire.

I am pleased with eKit and may be ditching my Rogers SIM on the same theory. Now, if someone only offered good roaming in Mexico.

Thanks, I was wondering about the $10 recharge option when it mentioned the $30 minimum, I see the difference now. Even better.
