Default My "new and unlocked" seems DOA - 06-09-2007, 14:59

Did tons of research. Picked a seller on eBay that seemed to have good feedback (99.4). Got a Moto V195 -- decent reviews. Bought the TravelSIM based on advice here.

Phone arrived in a box with no bubble or other padding. It was in original box but that was just flying around inside the shipping box. It is new -- all the films are still on the screens and it looks unused. The manual is in English, not some other strange language as I know can sometimes be the case with new phones. It is supposed to be unlocked and quad band.

The SIM is in. Phone never "asked for" the PIN. Phone has charged overnight. When I power it up, the keyboard lights flash on and then off. A second later, the screen shows the HelloMoto screen for about a second and then it goes dark. That's all I can get out of it.

The seller says to call to work out any problems. The number is no longer in service. I have sent two e-mails but they are in CA and I don't expect any reply anytime soon.

I am really pissed. DH thinks I am crazy and should have rented a phone.

So, what would you do?

Buy a T-Mobile SIM? Or a new battery? (Good money after bad...) Voltmeter shows 4 volts on the battery. It was "new" and Moto brand. Is it possible it is not CDMA? Ony GSM? Is it possible it is not unlocked? How can I find out? Any other ideas? TIA

I think it's not a sim-lock problem, it really seems the phone is broken...

If you paid via paypal, you should definitely file a complain with both paypal and ebay. Also, let the seller know what you inted to do, and that you will give a negative review if you do not get a refund or so.

Sounds like dead battery. Are you SURE the battery actually took the charge when left overnight?
