Default unlocked motorola v66 with UM - 06-06-2008, 16:30

Hello, I am attempting to test out my +44 UM sim with an unlocked t-mobile motorola v66. I tried to test it by topping up through the phone and the call rings then when i answer it dies and i receive a text saying insufficient funds.

Before I add 25 euros through the website i need to make sure the sim works with the phone prior to sending it with my daughter to europe.

any ideas if the v66 is compatible with UM sims? I have a +423 UM also but both need topping up.

First isn't there a quick code for BALANCE and TOP UP? Try those first.

All of the MOTOs (V188, Razor V3, V330, V360) I have had worked with UM. I had a V66 quite a while ago and cannot remember if I had the V66 with the original Riiing or not.

I say go for it.

The old UM sim didn't work with my Motorola v190, but the new one does. If you have trouble using UM with your v66, expect zero help from UM customer service.

Default Easy codes - 07-06-2008, 17:19

Q: Are EasyCodes charged and if yes, at what rates?
A: Recharge (08 and balance inquiry (089) are free of charge. All other EasyCodes will be charged.

==================

Have you tried the easy codes? If they work, I think callback will also work.

Default try 088 - 07-06-2008, 22:22

Sorry, try 088 for recharge. It should prompt you to enter a card #, which you don't have. Sorry, bad COPY and PASTE action. Look at their FAQ.

The fact that you receive a call back to me indicates the sim works in the phone. Even thought 088, 089 are free, I believe you still need to have some credit to be able to use them. At least that's what it's sounding like.

Even if the SIM doesn't officially work, there are dial-around codes you can use (*xxxxx, I forget the precise number). Less convenient, but definitely workable.

I'd guess based on your descriptions that you have full functionality though. When I have tried the SIM in unsupported phones, dialing fails - no callback occurs unless I use the * code.
