Default problem with AT&T sim card - 23-10-2010, 10:18

Hi everybody,

I'm Italian and I bought an AT&T sim card on the internet, today I received it but when I insert in the phone, it appears the message: " sim registration failed". I tried it in more than one phone so I don't think it's a phone problem.
Can you help me?

Thank you.

Did you activate the card? And if you did, how did you?

You bought it on the internet from whom? Like already asked, is this sim registered, was it used, was it brand new? Provide more information!

Phones: Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, Samsung Galaxy A50, ASUS zenfone 3,
Sim cards: AT&T (Contract), 3 UK, Piranha Mobile

Are you in the US? If you're out of the country, you won't be able to perform the initial registration.

CA: SaskTel, Wind postpaid; Rogers, Bell postpaid iPad flex plans; US: T-Mobile postpaid data, prepaid voice; PureTalk (AT&T MVNO) prepaid voice/data; AT&T prepaid iPad plan

Hardware: Too much but notably iPhone 5, iPad Mini Retina LTE, Moto G LTE (N.A. version), iPhone 4. All unlocked.

I bought the sim card on ebay, the sim was brand new ( i had to detach it from the card, sorry i don't know how to call it), now i'm in italy and i tried to activate the sim on this website: https://www.wireless.att.com/activations/ but it doesn't work.

I'm in italy now, but i need to use the sim card on december when i will go to the US.
Do you think that, once I will be there, the sim card will work?

Thank you very much.

I'm in Italy now, I bought the sim on ebay and I activated it yesterday on the AT&T website but the sim card doesn't work.
The sim card was brand new (i had to detach it from that card - i'm sorry, i don't know how call it) and, after the registration, the website gave me my phone number.
I need the sim on December, when I will go to the US.
Do you think that it will work once I will be there?

Thank you.

AT&T prepaids do not roam outside Canada and Mexico. So, that's why it's not working there in Italy. You should be fine when you get to the US. I am not sure how long the initial activation lasts without topping it up, if it's 30 days or 90 days. Regardless, you should be able to top it up online if needed.

They don't roam in Canada at all actually - at least, not as of the last time I checked (September) Maybe one day...

Postpaid roams here fine, but not prepaid.

TMobile's roam there, but not ATT. Rogers work in the US for CN$2 a minute.
