Default Now that I have gotten a dual # SIMple Calling SIM card--some questions. - 23-06-2009, 08:57

Now that I have received a dual phone number SIMple Calling SIM card, I have some questions for others who already have theirs:
1. What area code did you get? I got 617.

2. Have you been able to change of stop the PIN request at start up? I haven't.

3. Where did you get yours at what plan does it have--for US and Global.?
I got mine from the ekit's US ebay seller. It has the 50cent connection fee for US/Canada calls and 35cents for the Global calls-49cents a minute from the UK.

Neatest feature? I like that it says US or Global on a second line after the network name. Not all phones can do the second line.

I have a 718 area code with my Ekit Dual Passport SIM. I like having the Pin request at start up. It prevents use of my SIM if I lose the phone. I also like the feature that shows U.S. or Global on the screen.

You can always enable the PIN request on other SIMs if it is turned off.

In case anyone has doubts, [I have doubts!], I looked again and tested. The connection fee is 35cents. A one minute call sent or received from the USA to the USA is 44cents.

Going though the various ekit SIM card pages, they seem to be some flux. Some have not been totally cleaned up yet and discrepancies, errors and contradiction exist.

Does the old US/Canada-only SIMple Calling SIM that charges 20-cent set-up fee in US & 50-cent fee for Canada still exist? It sounds like the new dual-US/UK SIM is more expensive within the US & Canada and I just ended up getting lucky buying the older version.

If you go to this link:http://www.prepaidgsm.net/forum/amer...html#post26415 It briefly describes the two different plans before the dual phone number cards. What I think you are remembering is the card that had a 'North American' rate of
25cents for calls from US and 45cents for calls from Canada. This did not have a connection fee. All minutes cost the same. The other SIM card had a 50cent connection fee [still shown on ebay offers] and 9cents for USA origin calls and 29cents for Canadian origin calls.

The only place I have seen the 35cent connection charge is when I sign into my account and look at 'My Service'. I have also tested the charge with an incoming and outgoing call which charged me 44cents= .09+.35.

Futhermore than, the rate is now better than before than the old card because the connection fee is less: 35 rather than 50 cents. In addition, there is the UK number and international roaming. Of course, I am the only one who so far has seen and reported on this and the web offers of telestial and ekit don't show it [hopefully yet!]. I suspect some of the others who have the new card will verify it as soon as they see this message because the value of the card has just increased for them due to lower user cost.

There are currently two available SIMple Calling plans. The one I got I have only seen on eBay. The other one is also available on eBay but also at telestial's and ekit's web site.

Default Further observations about ekit dual [UK & US] phone number SIM cards - 25-06-2009, 06:17

Exciting times are happening with prepaid international SIM cards, what with everyone seems to be coming out with dual phone number ones. I can count 7 different ekit SIMs that have dual numbers available now. I will mention 3 that I am not going to now deal with. [When I say US or UK in describing the cards I am implying you can find it on eBay with that countries respective ekit seller or if you go to the ekit's website and search for SIMs to be delivered to the US or UK you will find that card.] Global Premium Service is a 'US' card that has US rates the same as european rates. Home & Roam Service is a UK card that has special moderate UK rates ['Home"] and fair european and North American rates. Finally, Passport Plus Service is the premium ekit card. Not available on eBay. Higher initial costs, but lower per minute costs than any other ekit cards.

The next cards are in pairs. The SIMple calling cards are now dual phone numbered with international roaming. The SIMple calling rates are basically the same as formerly [except the connection charge on the 'US' one is now 35cents intead of 50cents]. The 'US' SIMple calling card is available from the US ekit seller on eBay. Unfortunately I can not link to eat as the only info I have on it is when I sign into my ekit account and look at 'My Service' and see its rates. The eBay listings at this time do not show the international details. The international rates are the same as Passport Service . The advantage of the SIMple card is that the US and Canada rates are lower than the Passport rates.

The other SIMple Calling card [available from the UK ebay seller for instance], SIMple Calling Service has the 25cent per minute rate for US calls. The international rates are from Global Travel Service . It is a 'UK' card that has an EU rate and a higher rate for the US and Canada. The advatage here is once again the SIMple card's US and Canada rates are once again much better than the Global Travel Service rates.

Of course, one will need to look over the various offers available. But, the SIMple Calling Service SIM cards seem to be better for those that will be using them in North America.
