Default two SIM at once Quadband phone! - 24-01-2007, 20:29

Just found this phone: http://www.2simphone.com/

It is a quadband phone with two GSM engines and runs both SIM-cards at the same time. Just quite expensive

Did anyone ever saw such a phone from another vendor? I know a lot of people who are starving for such a phone to reduce the number of phones that they are carrying around...

I think it should also have (at least one) EDGE/3G receiver. EDGE is faster than "regular" GPRS and GSM is useless in Korea and Japan. Not a "full worldphone" now

I remember that such a phone was announced on of the Manx SIM websites but I can't recall on which one .
Anyway, this might have been the same since the company "behind" the 2-SIM phone is GT:
GT Phone Holdings HK Limited
1601-1603 Kinwick Centre
32 Hollywood Road
Central • Hong Kong (SAR)

Its on GT-Phone.com

The german webboards say that the first 1000 phones were built and shipped and a order of 50.000 pcs is made at the factory. Lets see how long it takes till the first models show up on the gadget websites for review

Interesting! If I understand correctly the content of GT-Phone.com, they don't sell SIMs but a "calling applet"! Look for the option Buy Now - Download.
How the hell this works? And what about incoming calls - havent received any pricing info (impossible?)

Its a calling applet for callback.
Only makes sense as long as you are in countries with free incoming calls. They dont have any rates for incoming calls as you still use your own SIM card...

I supposed so . However, it seems it may make sense to put a Manx SIM, Travelsim or 09 as the own card and to make calls at 29/49 cents. With UM isn't that good since Liechtenstein is on 29 cents surcharge list (i.e. 58/7..

Yep. Exactly.

I think GT builds up a interesting combination of products though.
SIM-card
own OEM branded phones
callback

lets see what comes next.

EDIT: I just read this on the GT-Phone website: "To initialize a call, there is a charge of sending a local SMS" - so 09 wouldnt work as they dont support SMS yet. ..

I came across of Doubao 728 mobile handset see link http://www.mobilmania.cz/Titulni-str...0/default.aspx. It cost HKD 1600 or RMB 1400 on ebay. Very similar to the GT phone just price is less that half.

that one looks nice too. These touchscreen-only phones seem to be very popular in HK at the moment.
