Default "Free" SIM Card in Paris - 04-04-2013, 12:15

I'll be staying in Paris for about four days and would like to get one of the Free SIM cards, which apparently costs €20 for 3 GB of data (won't be needing voice calls).

I've been emailing the concierge at the hotel I'll be staying but they seem to be a bit clueless. Once I arrive in Paris, will I be able to just walk into a Free shop and buy it using my passport as ID?

Also, is activation instant?

I'll also need it to be a micro-SIM so that I can use it on my Note 2.

Free Mobile is a subscription-only provider. No prepaid sims.

as far as i am informed you can also take any of the subscriptions and make a one month contract which will be automatically cancelled and pay right at the spot. At least at the big providers that works.

Germany: o2 blue all-in L, simquadrat
Thailand: truemove (phone+sms+wifi)
International: xxSim+372, toggle +44/+49/+41/+31
Phones: Huawei Mate7, Huawei P9

So is it relatively simple for a tourist to go on a subscription?
