Default wind italy monthly calls? - 18-12-2006, 21:05

when I activated my new wind sim at a torino wind company store; the agent told me I have to make one call every month or the sim will expire. Any advice on the veracity of this statement? Alternatives to making a call when not in italy?

I only received the SIM card; no instruction book of terms of service

It was activated within 2 hours. The codice fiscale I calculated from a website matched the one the store calculated since I was able to register at 155.it using it.

According to many wind users and a wind discussion forum, the sim will not expire but the line will be temporarily deactivated and the credit will be "frozen".

IMHO should be some kind of trick to avoid that the cards will be used only for the "noi 2" option (a sort of "flat rate" between 2 wind numbers, 400 minutes/month for 5 euros/month)

Anyway, it seems that a SMS is enough to keep the card alive, and you need to spent at least 0,01 eur. every THREE months, and not monthly.

Officially you should make a call/SMS/data every 3 months (not 1 month) or your card would be "frozen". In many cases it doesn't happen, but it's better maybe to make just a very little data connection, paying a couple of cents, to keep it active for sure. Just remember to refill it at least once every 11 months (plus 1 month of "grace period").

I make a GRPS connection of about 1KB. It costs a couple of cents. That seem to be enough.
