Local listing -
19-02-2015, 15:18
Hey
Does anyone ever use local listing services? I know companies like 1&1 have started to push the importance of it, but I've never really used it. My family has a small tailors with an website, so wondering if it's worth it... |

No, and I think these services are a pure rip-off. You can easily enter your business in Google Places and any other directory yourself free of charge, but I don't see the point in using any other as Google is the market leader. Given that you usually won't update the provided information too frequently I don't know why you should subscribe for such a service and pay monthly when they actually submit your data only once in a while. For a catering business it may make sense to also get listed on tripadvisor, yelp and similar sites, but for any other business Google and - if you are ready to maintain social media relations - a Facebook fanpage should do it. In any case I wouldn't pay every single month for a service that spares you a few minutes to do it yourself.

I see, thanks for the info. I guess my uncle wants to do as little as possible to do with computers and the internet, so he probably won't mind paying a little extra :/

I refer to go for manual business listing rather than buying any services
