Default WIND sim card normal, micro or nano - 08-05-2014, 22:51

I bought a WIND simcard a couple years ago. Still using it every year till last year. Unfortunately this sim card has the old normal big size. Also the actual copper sim contacts are bigger then the now mostly used micro sim cards. So not only the plastic.

Is there a way to change my big WIND sim card into a micro or nano size sim card?

There are SIM cutters on Amazon. I bought one but haven't tried it yet.

Yes I know. But the card seems to be a very old one. The sim part seems to be just a little to big for cutting. I don't know if the card would be cut in the actual gold part of the sim and making the sim an unusable.

You can change it, of course, but you have to pay, I think it's 10€

Hi sretlow, did you end up changing your SIM or did you manage to cut it down? I'm facing the same dilemma this week.

Thanks
Tracey

I went to a small mobile shop in Amalfi and they cut the SIM for me.

Even used a nail file afterwards to make sure it fit.

Thanks wco81 I've just ordered a sim cutter as I want it to be ready to use as soon as I cross the border from France! Just hope the sim works in my ipad - been using it in an iphone for the last couple of years so hopefully it will be ok. Also activated my internet plan today - roll on Friday!

I ordered one too because it was cheap. But it doesn't cut it perfectly to size.

I packed it on my trip even though it was kind of heavy.

Turned out the people at the store were prepared, because most newer devices are now using micro or nano SIMs. So this store at least had a cutter and a nail file to make it fit.

I have trimmed five SIMS using a cutter, from MINI (2FF) to MICRO (3FF), all without problems. The problem is with NANO (4FF) because they are also thinner.
