I think she has to manually select the network on this phone. The networks used there are 900/1800

The P-280 had a switch for choosing 1900 OR 900 / 1800. The V-66 may have the same configuration. Daughter may need to select that (900/1800) option for frequencies. Check the manual.
Other than that I believe the Germans report some networks don't work on UM AT TIMES. O2 seemed to work for me in Duesseldorf. Service: US T-MO post paid (2) - US T-MO prepaid (2) - UM+ - TravelSIM DE SIMYO - DE SUNSIM T-Mobile DE Calling Cards: Onesuite Enjoyprepaid AT&T MCI Mobivox |

thanks, when she attempted to switch networks she said it wasnt finding a network, wonder if there is a bad signal.
also, now when i am calling it says the number has been disconnected which I know isnt true, as the call log on UM shows that I have been trying to call her. |

She has to swith bands or manually select bands (900/1800) first. After that if the phone does not find any networks, it may be on manual selection, then she has to manualy select one or change it to auto.
As for getting thet weird message wen calling UM+, it's no telling what message you will get sometimes with these international cards. Most of the time it will connect, however sometimes, depending on the country, what network one is roamin on, you can either get a busy signal, no signal at all, or even a network message that the number does not exist. Just retry the call! Quote:

Here is the manual. For next time, I would just pick up the cheapo Moto V195 for $39 (Net of $17 with the $25 topup voucher that is included)
