Hopefully this isn't too late for your departure, but just an idea!
You can go to
http://www.ecallplus.com/ and purchase your sim card there - they have several providers like Oxygen, and it looks like you can ship overseas. One of my employees used their service last year and it worked really well. The GSM starter kits are $24 and include 50 minues of air time.
