What about sim validity;

One usage every 12 months.
Otherwise the SIM gets cancelled. But they pay out the remaining balance minus 5 Euro for handling.

If the balance of the card falls to 0 Euro you have 90 days to recharge again or the simn gets cancelled as well.

Some other things:

1) How do you recharge; Vouchers, credit card;

2) Is it possible to buy it from outside Germany;

then theres 'kim com', 'bush-phone', 'amin-phone' ooooh the list goes on hehehheeh
