Just got back home and saw welcome to our network ... m-tel is now part of the vodafone family... what a shock!!! They signed the documents last week, vodafone bought m-tel from austrian operator one. They will start offering vodafone services within 6 months

I think they should introduce Passport in Bulgaria as well, but I think it's the only good reason to appreciate Vodafone...

and it's taken them some time to add their Czech network to Passport

It depends how you define Eastern Europe :). If you skip former Soviet republics, it seems you are basically right (what about Slovakia?).

Poland is a somehow strange case now as for Voda expansion. Since TDC is selling its shares in Polkomtel, Voda wants to buy them of course, and also buy shares from Polish shareholders in order to take control. But Polish shareholders still hesitate, also for political reasons. They are stil co-owned by the state, and the current Polish government could be described as "Catholic socialist" :P. Of course, I exaggerate a little, but they really don't like large foreign capital (e.g. they are against HVB/UniCredito merger on the Polish market). After all, the results of the French reign over Polish Telecom and Orange don't encourage to similar transactions in the future...

thats what i meant. I use passport to call from the UK to another UK number, the other UK number pays 75p to accept a call abroad, so all we pay together for one hour is 75p +3X5p =90p

Slovakia has just 2 networks, and they are T-Mobile and Orange, no space for Vodafone, but surely Poland is the biggest market, and with much growing possibilities, so it's surely a good opportunity for Vodafone. I fear it will become the classic trio: Orange, T-Mobile, Vodafone, sooner or later. They also miss some former Yugoslavian countries and Ukraine (Voda has deals in the Baltic republics, with Bite and Elisa).
