01/27/2009 Croatia and United Mobile: Just an illusion...

Hi,
Today i moved from italy directed to Rijeka - Croatia.
I passed via Slovenia and all was ok with my UM card in this country.( calls and sms)
In Croatia started problems:
Sim registered, but no possibility to do calls, send o receive sms.
I tried to change network, but nothing happened. Same response.
Service non available on diplay screen when i tried to call
I tried to call myself from my H3g phone in roaming on Tmobile network but nothing.."not reachable"
I didn't think that is so difficult to connect an European country via UM.
Maybe the difference was the cost.... for H3g Italy, roaming in Croatia, costs 2 euro min in/out but i can sure talk.
With Um card with a lot of money charged, nothing...
Financial crisis for UM????

Uhm, which UM card do you have? +423 or +44? It seems that roaming agreements for +423 decreased, but I didn't try it the last time I was in Croatia. Did you try with all 3 the Croatian operators?

When you were in Slovenia did you pay for incoming calls? That's another bad news from UM... :(

I have +44 card and i tried all Croatina operators.
In Slovenia i payed to receive but next month i keep in my bag Travelsim.

Any suggestion about a good international card for this country ? (excluding Croatian operators) ;)

Honestly I don't know, UM should work in Croatia as well as Travelsim and both have free incoming calls. In Slovenia both UM and Travelsim don't have free incoming calls, but Travelsim is cheaper for short calls. If you often go there you can consider a local simcard, they are rather cheap nowadays (expecially compared to the past). I'm in Slovenia every month but I didn't buy a local card yed even if I shoud! :D

On february i'll move to Croatia for few days and i'll bring Um with me
Today, UM answered me via mail and confirmed that all is ok.
Next time a video will be useful to show any problem.
I'm UM fan (i bought from them 4 sim!!) but in any case, i'am convicted that another +44 sim will be good to have...
Any info "on the road" on GT-SIM??
Is a good solution alternative to UM ?
Thanks.

GT-Sim is a mistery to me... Take a look at ekit cards offered by Telestial.
