Where to buy a SIM near Verona's airport
 

Hi,
We shall land at Verona airport and continue right away to lake Garda with a rented car. I would like to buy a pre-paid SIM card for data usage. Can I avoid getting into cities and buy the card somewhere on the way? Maybe I can get one near Garda lake? Airport?

3 weeks ago I bought a Wind sim in Desenzano but last year had no luck with anything other than Vodafone in Peschiera. If you're going to Desenzano I'll give you the address of the shop where I bought my Wind sim, it was very straightforward as I had my codice fiscale, passport and a print out of the exact plan I wanted.

Someone may of course direct you to somewhere closer to Verona airport...

Thanks. Our first destination would be Sirmione which I believe should
have some mobile service store, however I'm unable to locate one
on the net.

I would be glad to get the address of the store in Desenzano, it's only 15min from Sirmione.

I paid 10 euros for the sim which seemed to include 5 euros activation and then 5 euros credit. I opted for the 20 euro unlimited Internet option as I wanted to use Skype during my stay and the 12 euro option didn't offer this facility. They even cut my sim card to fit my iPhone and I was able to tether my iPad too and had no problems during the two weeks I was there. I purchased the sim at about 12 noon and it was fully working by about 4/5 pm.
