Italy: How to activate a Vodafone pre-paid SIM card?

Hi,

I received a pre-paid Vodafone SIM card when I bought an iPhone in Italy last year. The card is a USIM 128K 15.21; it has a PIN, a PUK and what looks like a serial number, but no phone number. When I plug it into an unlocked phone, the phone says "inactive SIM". I tried the vodafone.it web site, and there is an option of activation (I think; my Italian is very basic) here:

http://www.areaaziende.vodafone.it/1...odafonesim128k

but it requires registration, which in turns requires a phone number.

What am I doing wrong? Is there any way I can activate the SIM before I go to Italy?

Thanks a lot for any help!

International Cell Phones, World Phones, SIM Cards, Satellite Phones can provide you (at a considerable markup) a card before you arrive in Italy.

This link is just for business contracts. You can register even winthout a Vodafone number: you need an Italian mobile phone number of any opertator (I suppose for a verification code)

To register to Vodafone.it you only need an italian mobile phone number of any operator (for sms verification code).
But the link you posted is only for business contracts.

I suppose you're not in Italy... Vodafone sim-cards are pre-activated, but I think you have to first use them in Italy in order for them to work.
