Five excellent sim cards to go abroad and...beyond!
I would like to examine here the five cards I consider the best roaming sims around in this moment. I hope the post will be useful to all people surfing the web and looking for some suggestion in the future.
1) Airbalticcard the sim is one of the three or more sisters (among them: Travelsim, Lemonsim and Airbalticcard) and is plenty of interesting features, first of all the possibility to send free sms from the web site and even more intriguing, the option to change the caller id. This latter is quite useful when you want to call someone who doesn't have your new number or you don't want to let him know you are not calling outside of office. Apart from this, the sim can also receive calls via skype at zero cost for the caller and even get and additional UK number cheaper to call. The sim also offers excellent data packages and sim to sim fixed rate calls at 19 eurocents per minute. Sim expires in 700 days if not used for at least a minimum amount of traffic. 2) Piranha mobile I have been testing this sim card and even if at the beginning it seemed to me a bit tough to get it up and running, I must say now it is working well, (apart from some issues with incoming sms messages), offers an excellent array of tools and widespread data coverage often at a lower price than the Travelsim group, e.g. in the Caribbean area. The sim tools as said are: voip full integration, so you can call and receive automatically and at far better rates over wifi when available or when the gsm network doesnt' cover your location. Another great option is the offload callback and the free sms from the web site. This sim too, like the Airbaltic, can show, on special written request, a different caller id. Last but not least, the sim comes with a different set of numbers: a US one, primary and a UK one, secondary. Sim expires in 400 days if not used for at least a minimum traffic. 3) MTX Connect This sim card is rapidly expanding the coverage. It is a Luxembourg based data only sim cards that offers packages or per MB data traffic at around 4 cents per MB. 4) Lefixegratuit sim card new on this market, they offer a wide array of solutions, mostly based on Italian landline numbers coupled to the sim card. It can be useful to be easily reached worldwide at the best costs on caller's side. The sim asks for about 10 euros per month in order to keep the landline active but can be a viable option. 5) Tellink Roaming sim Tellink roaming sim has been one of my favourite. The sim never expires and is absolutel reliable. Unfortunately they haven't been upgrading their data costs for a while, so let's see if interesting options will come in the near future with the new roaming regulations. The sim comes with a Belgian number. Hope it helps. |

I got this simcard from AIS Thailand and I activated the unlimited Dataplan with 2 mbits. Here you can choose between the unlimited data which is very cool http://www.ais.co.th/one-2-call/addon/en/nonstop.html |
Hi Svenn.
We had a very similar thread on Telefon-Treff Forum where you hyped this very SIM. You got a quite harsh response from me about your comments. And here it goes again: You are promoting a SIM which is sold with a 69% surcharge on eBay. AIS SIM2FLY is intended for outbound tourists from Thailand. So they are a good option, if you start a SE asia trip from there. Now, they are sold all over the region. But it's practically impossible to keep this SIM or plan alive from abroad. Thai top-up rules give 30 days of additional service, if you top-up THB 10 or more. So you need to top-up 12-times to a get a year of service or SIM validity. Top-ups from abroad are only through 3rd party agencies that charge a premium of up to 30% and minimum top-up amount is 50 THB. You keep saying that you are using this Thai SIM. But you don't say, how you handle them. And then you keep linking websites of AIS for domestic Thai data packages, that can't be activated on the SIM2FLY, nor work outside of Thailand in roaming? So I'm really asking: Why are you doing this? Some have suspected a commercial profile behind your account, others a boaster. I can't figure out any sense in what you are saying...... Looking at your last post of this thread: there you link a AIS roaming website and another one about domestic AIS packages suggesting that these packs work in international roaming, which is quite deceptive. So again my question: Why are you doing this? |
Because there are unlimited sim cards avalible like
https://www.bnesim.com/store/bnesim-...ope-unlimited/ And i would like to share this great thing |
And I tried to explain to you, that there is not such a thing like "unlimited" in international roaming.
They can advertize with this buzzword, but they throttle or downgrade after a certain quota. BNE SIM has a very high margin: 100 GB for a month. Have you tried it? If so, how do you handle them? I keep on asking. You can't top-up a BNE SIM with a new "unlimited" pack. You have to buy a new SIM. You keep on making proposals like this or that SIM labeled as "unlimited". But what is "unlimited" for you? How do you define "unlimited"? Please give me a definition. For instance the Rewheel market research center in Finland defines "unlimited" as at least 100 GB at min. 4 Mbps in 4G/LTE. This is a clear definition of what to call "unlimited" and what not. But like the industry you blur the term "unlimited" and extend it to every package which is not shut off. For instance is the T-Mobile USA "unlimited" data roaming in 140+ countries "unlimited" or not - as it's limited to 2G speeds. Or do you mean "unlimited" domestic data plans? Not roaming plans. These are available in many countries now, but not for international roaming! And again: How do you handle all your proposals? 1.) BNE SIM: unlimited pack once-off only as starter, no refill 2.) AIS SIM2FLY: Hard to top-up from abroad. Needs to be refilled 12-times for a year of validity at a premium of 5-30%. How do you keep these SIM cards alive for occasional journeys? I'm a roaming freak as you are, but if you want to be taken seriously, you need to specify your proposals. All I hear from you are this or that SIM or operator is called or advertises as "unlimited". And you say it's a great thing. Asking for details, you evade. So one can wonder what you are up to? |
I love to surf the Internet unlimited. I'm wathing many many YouTube thats the reason why I want unlimited data.
|
And I want peace on earth, to be rich, my mother to be reborn .....
When you want "unlimited" data for your own, you'll need to pay for it. Or look for an open WiFi or stay all day at McDonald's. All plans that you have proposed here so far, don't offer real unlimited data. |
Im sitting here now in alicante spain with my great mtx sim card i will keep it until the end of my ljfe it worked greeeeat here. The Internet connection is very fast!!
For just five euro thisis amazing. |

Why do keep on telling only parts of the story? That's equal to 300 € per month, isn't? And you have to buy a new plan every day? Do you really pay 300 € per month for unlimited internet? I still don't understand what you are up to. |
I love to have unlimited data
