Default MIFI E5830 Problems - 01-08-2010, 17:29

Hi,

I recently bought a HUAWEI MIFI WLAN Modem E5830 from eBayUK, 3UK branded and unlocked.
On an ASUS 1000H/XP the installation worked flawlessly, everything fine.

On my EEE 901/XP I cannot connect to the modem, when it is plugged directly with a cable to the USB port. In this way it should work like a stick or i.e. E220.

The 3 WIFI Manager (similar to Mobile Partner) detects the device, set configurations for different SIMs are found, roaming is no problem.

Whenever I click on "Connect" I receive the error message "Device has been disconnected or is unavailable". Reinstallation was of no use.

The device manager shows yellow question marks E901>>?Other devices>>?Ethernet Data, drivers are not installed and cannot be found.

What to do???, Thanks for all help.

It seems like the driver is missing for that component. You should browse the "3 WiFi Manager" folder for such. If you have got a CD with the device, it could also contain the required driver.
Or do you happen to have installed a n-lited copy of Windows XP, that lacks some generic drivers?

No, the xp is original and fat, no problem after I got me a Runcore SSD...
Meanwhile I updated the Mobile Partner (k0k0) and reinstalled the 3 WIFI Manager again. After that procedure now all 3 drivers for the MIFI have been replaced by yellow ???.
Unfortunately no CD came with the device. I'll check the folders, but do you know where to download extracted drivers?

I think k0k0's Mobile Partner doesn't contain the latest driver package, which is required for your iMo. If you go to C:\Programs\Mobile Partner\Driver there's a file called release notes.txt. Which version does it give at then end of the file?
The latest version I have is 2.96.00.00, which is included in this version of Mobile Partner.

Version 2.96.03.00
Support WWAN in Win7
New LOGO for Modem.

I unlocked an E220 and updated the Mobile Partner with k0k0's .iso file.

Probably thpse versions of Mobile Partner intended for regular modems don't work with the MiFi. But I just found this Mobile Partner for the E5830.

Thanks!, I'll try that later.
Meanwhile the issue is solved, I downloaded a driver package from anywhere an installed manually. At least the 3 WIFI Manager now works.
The (k0k0) MP does not work with the MIFI, that's right.

.
....that's cute!
.
I found this WIFI MP also as an UTPS-.exe file.
Are you sure that it can be flashed on the E5380?

Well, I've never had such a device. But from other Huawei modems I can tell you that these update tools check hardware IDs before flashing, so you can't brick your device by flashing an incompatible firmware or dashboard.
