Default Nokia 500 russian emails - 22-11-2009, 21:57

With my N5000 I cannot read russian emails because the encoding is not set to Windows 1251 cyrillic (hotmail mailbox).

Any idea how to change the encoding????

Maybe Windows-1251 is not supported by your handset. Have you already tried sending an UTF-8-encoded cyrillic mail?

Sending cyrillic is not possible as it cannot be entered into the german version.
This is only possible after a software update, but after that the phone doesn't know german (menu) anymore.

I meant you should send a cyrillic mail from a PC to your phone. If you drop me your eMail address by PM, I can send you an UTF-8-encoded cyrillic mail.

for everyone's information: UTF-8 encoded eMails were displayed correctly, it's just the Windows-1251 encoding, which the Nokia N5000 can't handle properly.
