Country: | This would be very useful because finding internet to initiate a call is a real pain when you're traveling. Thread was in 2009... anything changed? I have tried the VoIPCheap number and also Continental's SMS Call service. Can't get either to work as yet. So instead what I have to do at the moment is find a local SIM card shop, buy a card, make sure they setup data on it and see it working and then use that to browse to voipcheap.co.uk with images turned off(a WAP site would be handy!!) to start a call - annoying. What I will look at doing now is using a SMS to email service to my own website that will use Curl (or webscraper bot) to place the call for me. Thanks for posting the numbers though, I will experiment. |

Country: | @jago25 I am using regual callback. Setup your own asterisk based server, freepbx for example on a vps. You can install any betamax, these days dellmont brand. You should get a vps for around $10, 256 or 512 mb. You need to have 1 phone to trigger the callback, 1 to receive. Dual sim phone might work if you like them. |

Error Trying To Install Freepbx 2.2.1 and Asterisk 1.2.15 | FreePBX I have to run apache as the asterix user. I'm not sure I want to go as far as that as I already have a webserver... unless I can run an additional webserver on another port... all a bit over the top perhaps | |

Country: | I use the following method to initiate a callback, using Nindino: Cheap calls to India, Pakistan, Srilanka, Saudi Arabia, USA from anywhere in the world , after registering with them you register the number you will be calling from in your account, you then call a callback number they provide, after dialing this number you will hear it ring once then disconnect (no charge incurred) seconds later you are called back on the same phone number you called from, after telling you your balance you can then dial the number you wish to call. The call rates while not the cheapest for some countries are comparable with the Betamax brands. |

Country: | @Mobileman this is a nice solution but I have found that sometimes on some foreign networks the caller id does not get tranferred. This means that when initiating a callback the system would see anonymous and no callback would be triggered. This is the reason I setup a trunk in my pbx that will trigger a callback when being called by any number. I keep the number private so only I know it. Did this after some frustration some time ago because of the anonymous caller id. In the logs I saw the call at the time I made the trigger call but no caller id. For astersik you can get free did numbers from many places and use this to trigger the callback. |
