Exclamation Looking for a German simcard once again - 11-06-2007, 09:34

Dear PrepaidGSM friends, unfortunately on my last trip to Hannover I succeeded in blocking my Aldi-Medion Mobile simcard forgetting the pin code (and I didn't have the puk), so now I'm looking once again for a German simcard since I'll be in Berlin at the end of the month and once again in Nürnberg at the end of July.

A Blauworld sim (or SunSim) would be great, but also a Simyo, Aldi or other "low-data" simcard is good. I just don't like to spend 20 euros to get 10 of credit so I was looking if someone had a spare one to sell me at a normal price!

Let me know!
Dankeshön!

Sure thing, I could get you a Blauworld SIM for 15€ (incl. 10€ of credit) or a Simyo SIM for 15€ (incl. 15€ of credit). New Simyo cards are supposed be 64k now, therefore one should be able use UMTS with them too.

Sunsim says it doesn't expire, so if you buy a new one it would only be the one extra €10 at the beginning. And its rates in Germany are lower.

I can't offer to lend you mine, as I'll be going there myself 2 to 4 times in the next few weeks, and it might be stuck in the post at the wrong time.

Are you sure Sunsim doesn't expire? I didn't find it on the website... that would be interesting, it has cheap international rates as well as local ones and data calls too... Does it work on 3G too? And, most important, do you think I can directly order it on the website delivered to Italy?

Ok, it seems it's not possible to buy Sunsim on the website...

Die Lieferung ist zur Zeit nur nach Deutschland möglich

On the FAQ page

Wie lange ist mein Guthaben gültig?
Ihr Guthaben ist prinzipiell unbegrenzt gültig.

I don't know about 3g

I ordered it with a UK credit card, delivered to a German address (2 working days later), so Chris' offer to post it on would work.

The cheapest int'l calls will be by using a callthrough number such as Voipcheap, from 1c/min on top of Sunsim's 8c to the Düsseldorf access. Set up a new Voipcheap account and nominate Germany as the invoice country, no other details needed yet, then add the Sunsim number in your profile.

Or I haven't tested this yet, but I think that a DialNow account would be usable from more than one country, so you could nominate Germany and Sunsim for caller ID recognition there, but still use the PIN on a trip to UK Netherlands, Sweden, etc; I'm hoping they will add more countries

A warning about Sunsim: even though internet access is listed I've just checked at a German forum, the members there say that it doesn't work yet. You can only use WAP (at the the same price) or go online via CSD though this costs at least 0,08€/minute.

Uhm, no, Blauworld still has the expensive GPRS... so Simyo/Blau would be better for data, but not for international calls...
