I just received my prepaid sim card in the mail. (I have an unlocked GSM phone) I will be in Chile from July until December. How do I get my phone number? Can I activate it here in the United States?

Stick it in your phone and see if it has a number. If it registers on a network then send someone a SMS and see who it comes from.
