Free roaming in Lithuania and Estonia
While roaming on EMT (Estonia) and Omnitel (Lithuania) all call rates are the same as on Amigo's (LMT) network, so incoming calls are free of charge and outgoing calls are the same as listed above.
Effendi's Opinion about Amigo
I used an Amigo prepaid card in August 2004 during my trip to Latvia. I first wanted to keep using my Lithuanian Tele2 card
on "free" roaming, but international calls cost too much and had problems with SMS (both with Tele2 and my
Wind Italian card), so I went for Amigo. I bought a starting kit at Riga railway station at an LMT shop, but you can find them
also in kiosks all around the city. The starting kit is very nice, "CD-like", but everything was writte in Latvian
and Russian only, no English. Now I see Amigo has translated everything on their site, so maybe they put something in
English on their manual too; anyway also in Latvian it wasn't difficult to activate it, and then you can choose English on the
phone. I suggest to take a look at Amigo site which is well done.
Amigo is a MVNO on LMT network, which is the best in Latvia. Don't expect perfect coverage anyway while outside of Riga,
Lithuania and Estonia have much better coverage. I also had problems with Italian cards roaming on both Latvian networks,
while the Amigo card worked perfectly, also sending and receiving international SMS with Italian and Estonian friends.
Per minute tariffs are not as cheap as in Lithuania, but there's per second billing, and with larger top-ups you get extra credit.
Tele2 LV should be cheaper, but has worse coverage, so Amigo can be a good choice for a trip to Latvia.
