United Mobile +423 is the
oldest among the international prepaid GSM simcards, formerly known as "Riiing" till the end of 2005.
It is Liechtenstein based (Mobilkom FL) with +423.663 prefix, which unfortunately in these years has become quite expensive
to be called. The service is anyway reliable since long time
UM+423 offer doubled at the beginning of 2008 with the launch of ICQsim
in cooperation with ICQ instant messenger. This is
the very first prepaid offer including data capabilities (GPRS/3G) offered by United Mobile. Rates for calls are the same as
+423 while SMS are cheaper. In the next months the two offers will be probably merged since by now it makes little sense
to buy +423 instead of ICQsim, which is also cheaper to buy.
PROS
Very reliable service;
free incoming calls in 80 countries worldwide;
ICQsim has the best rate for SMS and GPRS/3G data capabilities in some countries.
CONS
High set-up fee for all outgoing calls
In some countries calling +423 numbers has become really expensive;
GPRS/3G data available in few countries only.

Placing a call
United Mobile Mobile service works with "callback": you just dial with the international prefix (e.g. +39 for Italy), then you will be briefly disconnected and receive a call back. Answer normally like when receiving a call. To use this "callback" service you don't need a specific handset anymore, like in the past with United Mobile.
